Court Farm Garage based in the beautiful Forest of Dean, is now the recognised dealer for the legendary Bateson trailers.
Bateson trailers were established in 1934 and have manufactured many thousands of trailers for varied applications. They are able to modify designs and produce special trailers based on over 100 standard models.
Their design experience, utilising 3D CAD and modern production machinery including laser cutting, CNC steel forming and robot welding has enabled them to manufacturer an extensive range of trailers which combine exceptional strength with a low unladen weight and excellent stable towing characteristics.
We are able to supply any model.
Trailers do not have to be fitted with brakes until the gross weight exceeds 750 kg, or if the weight of the trailer and load does not exceed half the weight of the towing vehicle. This has many benefits, the trailer cost is much less and maintenance is greatly reduced.
Most small trailers available are of the camping trailer type and do not stand up to commercial applications. Our platform trailers 520, 720 and 72H are manufactured, using many of the same materials and to the same standard as our 3500 kg trailers. The independent rubber suspension axles on all models use sealed bearing hubs with a 1300 kg capacity and never need adjustment.
New on this range is the lockable cast coupling which now has an extended handle making it easy to operate in awkward places often found on quad bike couplings and under door mounted spare wheels.
B53, B64, B84, and B85 are fabricated from pre-galvanised, heavy duty, 2 mm thick steel. Laser cut, punched and formed on the latest CNC machines. All trailers are available with a range of options making them suitable for a large variety of applications.

Bateson Livestock Trailers have been in production for over 70 years during which time they have developed continuously to keep abreast of ever changing legislation with regard to motor vehicles and the transport of animals.
We have taken care to keep the trailers as simple and light as possible without sacrificing strength in order to cope with the harsh environment in which they may operate.
All models have a hot dipped galvanised chassis and are panelled with 2 mm toughened alloy sides and a heat reflecting, plastic coated galvanised steel roof. The floor is an 18 mm Phenol coated panel covered with aluminium tread-plate. All trailers up to 3500 kg are fitted with independent suspension axles and auto-reversing brakes. Full road lights, locking hitch and spare wheel are all standard.
Model 90 LT and 100 LT are designed for use with tractors and have leaf spring suspension and hydraulic brakes. A cross division gate is standard in these trailers and optional in the other models. The maximum permitted pen lengths are 12′ for cattle. 10′ for pigs and sheep and 8′ for calves.
Some models are available with increased headroom and can be fitted with a timber ramp, breast bars and a centre division for the occasional transportation of horses. Simple lift out decks are available for models 30 LT to 48 LT.
Fully folding aluminium sheep decks are available in the new Eurostock 326 and 336 models that also have aero dynamic fronts, an internal bulk head and hinge down front vents as standard. Possibly the most distinctive and efficient livestock trailers available.
Fold down top front section to improve ventilation and reduce wind resistance are also available on models 30 LT to 60 LT.

Our design experience utilising the latest durable materials has enabled us to produce a stylish range of horse trailers, which combine a low unladen weight, exceptional strength, good aerodynamics and stable towing characteristics.
The chassis and frames are all hot dipped galvanised steel with a semi monocoque construction allowing a low floor height and a lower centre of gravity than our competitors also providing increased ground clearance, less unladen weight and an extra 3” headroom within the same overall height.
All trailers have Avonride softride fully independent rubber suspension with automatic reversing brakes and a hydraulically damped hitch with a power assisted handbrake, front telescopic jockey wheel, and a spare wheel.
The sides are paneled with specially manufactured glass fibre/plywood laminated panels with galvanised steel kicking panels and vacuum formed flexible padding panels.
The floor is manufactured with a 22cm wide 2mm galvanised steel section down both sides where maximum strength and rot resistance is required. The centre section is a rot proof plastic floor panel that is strong, solid and silent and offers total security. A full aluminium plank floor is available as an option. The stalls have two 18mm removable rubber floor mats that lift out to allow the floor to dry during washing and for periodic inspection. The front floor section and ramps are bonded with reinforced non-slip rubber matting.
The roof is heat reflecting white plastic coated galvanised steel with a moulded glass fibre front section and a large vacuum formed window incorporating a ventilator. Ventilation is also provided in each side and over the rear doors.
Divisions are galvanised steel with flexible padding panels and reinforced rubber kicking skirts. They are hinged on a central post on all front unload models. The front and rear bars are fully padded and adjustable for height and remain attached to the division, out of the way of the horses during loading and unloading.
All trailers have a high standard specification and are fully equipped with a unique coupling mirror, which allows the trailer hitch to be seen by the driver during coupling eliminating miss alignment, and damaged bumpers. Interior lamp, hitch lock, internal and external tying rings and spare wheel are all standard. A saddle rack and cover is fitted to Deauville models and a lockable tack cupboard in Ascot models.
American style rear doors with a pull out ramp are available on front unload models as an option. These are very common in Europe and becoming more popular in the UK, being easier to load and making the trailer more versatile.
Full width front and rear bars are also available for use with the divisions removed. A mare and foal can be transported at the owner’s discretion but extra security should be provided for the groom’s door which is designed to open from inside for safety and convenience. Other options include a hinged head divider panel, an easy to fit wheel clamp and the graphics stripe available in yellow, red, green, black, blue or pink
A removable aluminium bulkhead gate and ramp side gates can also be offered to allow the transportation of sheep and other small livestock. Fully complying with the transportation of animals act and increasing the trailers versatility.

The independant rubber suspension axles have auto reversing brakes, operated by a cast steel hydraulic damped over run coupling with a power assisted hand brake and integral jockey wheel. Full road lights are fitted and the specially designed damage resistant mudguards are fitted with aluminium tred-plate ‘stand on’ tops on twin axle models.
All trailers are available with a range of optional equipment to suit many applications, including ramp tail doors and mesh extension sides, however extra equipment will increase the unladen weight and reduce the payload. It is important when selecting a trailer to check that the towing vehicle has an adequate towing capacity, and when used with a commercial vehicle, that the weights are within the permitted gross train weights shown on the vehicle plate.
We also manufacture a range of unbraked trailers, 5’ x 3’, 6’ x 4’, 8’ x 4’ and 8′ x 5′ up to a maximum gross weight of 750kg.

Our range of van trailers has been developed over many years with different models added in response to customers requests. Using a trailer of this type will double the capacity of a van or it can even be replaced, towing with a car or 4 x 4. There is no road tax or M.O.T. offering a very economical method of transporting goods. We have a range of sizes and capacities to suit most towing vehicles.
The newest and smallest all glassfibre unbraked 120V looks great and has found many uses from carrying extra luggage with taxis, disco and band equipment to racing motor cycles.
The larger trailers all have overrun brakes from 1300 kg to 3.5 tons gross weight. The use of the latest technology and materials has resulted in a trailer offering a smart modern appearance with good aerodynamics and low un laded weight. The chassis are all galvanised and fitted with independent rubber suspension axles. There is an internal steel frame, not often found in this type of trailer, to which load securing hooks and galvanised steel tying rails are attached. There is an 18 mm plywood lower front bulkhead with steel tying rails above. The sides are lightweight glass fibre/ plywood composite panels and the roof is translucent glass fibre with an aluminium frame.
Standard equipment includes a locking coupling, spare wheel and carrier and our ingenious coupling mirror which allows the hitch to be seen during coupling to eliminate misalignment and damaged bumpers. The trailers can be fitted with either the standard roof mounted roller shutter door. hinged van doors or a spring assisted ramp door. A front personnel door or side roller doors can be fitted to special requirements. Also the inside headroom can be increased if required or the overall height can be reduced to fit into buildings but the aerodynamic front would need to be replaced with a flat front.

Bateson Hydraulic Tilt trailers have been designed to transport many types of vehicles and machinery. The low platform and shallow approach angle allow equipment with a minimum ground clearance or a long front overhang to be loaded easily. They are available in three types; the GT models which are single axle low loading general purpose trailers, suitable for all types of horticultural and construction equipment, the AT range which are twin axle, auto tilt platform trailers suitable for machines and vehicles weighing up to 2 tons and versatile PT range of tilting platform trailers which are available with twin or triple axles up to 3500kg gross weight.
The PT range are very low loading flat platform trailers with hydraulic tilt. The laser cut chassis members incorporate the outside sections of the floor which increases the strength whilst reducing the platform height and unladen weight. This also allows tyre grips and load securing points to be cut into the deck inside the sides. If hinged sides are required three are fitted each side with lift out centre and corner posts. A 75cm High ramp door is fitted on all three trailers to provide a constant approach angle. detchable ramp blocks are available for very low vehicles and lose ramps are available for side loading that store between the centre side posts. As a free option we offer these trailers without the rear ramp and with 2 slide under ramps 1200mm long and 300mm wide. This allows a rear overhang and further reduces the approach angle. A 2 ton hand winch or 12v electric winch and a front adjustable wheel chock are also available as options.
Non-tilting models are available that can be fitted with triple axles if required, they can then be plated to a gross weight of 3500kg.
On the GT and AT trailers the deck extends rearwards by lowering the tailboard which locks horizontally. This allows the body to balance over the pivot point (when not fitted with fitted with extra equipment). The body can then be tilted to allow the load to be driven or winched on and the body will return to the normal position. If the valve on the pump is closed, the body will remain raised in order to load several items, when the valve is opened the body will lower. When unloading the body is released and the tailboard lowered the machine can be driven on to the ramp and the body will tilt, hydraulically damped, and the load driven off. The trailer can also be tilted by means of the manual hand pump if required.
We also manufacture special tilt trailers for scissor lifts and sweeping machines, 26TP and 35TP, 2600 kg and 3500 kg gross weights, these can be built with extra body length to accommodate larger machines if required. Also look at our ever popular Hydraulic Tilt Car Transporters trailers, these have proved to be ideal for many more applications that just car transport.

We manufacture a range of 4 Hydraulic tipping trailers the smallest 720H does not have brakes and can be seen in the un-braked trailer section. Model 202H has a gross weight of 2000kg and can be easily tipped manually avoiding the cost and complexity of electric tipping equipment.
Model 263H at 2600kg and 353H at 3500kg are both 3 metres long and are supplied with a 12v pump and battery box as standard. All models have 30cm steel sides as standard and can be fitted with mesh extension sides and rear gates as an option.
We do not manufacture a larger tipping trailer on safety grounds, they will hold more material than their weight capacity, could be top heavy when tipped and be very back heavy, lifting the rear of the towing vehicle when tipped.

Heavy duty plant trailers are available in 3 weight ranges, 2 tonne, 2.6 tonne and the maximum permitted weight 3.5 tonne, they are available in 3 body lengths 2.5m, 3m and 3.6m (approx. 8’, 10’ and 12’) and4 widths approx. 4’ 5’, 5’6” and 6’.
Model 20MD is manufactured with the most compact dimensions possible designed to transport 1500kg mini excavators, allowing a minimum gross train weight.
Larger trailers are available with a full ramp door and an extended drawbar with a high bucket carrier for mini diggers (26MD and 35MD) or with removable ramps and partial floors to carry tracked machines up to 2.9 tonnes.
Trailers fitted with a hydraulic tilt and ramp door are designed to provide a low approach angle needed for scissor lifts and similar machines.
Special models are available for attaching fixed plant, generators. pumps, compressors etc. Please let us quote for your requirements and quantities.
Our largest trailer in this range 12’ x 6’ is suitable for larger dumpers. and skid steer loaders. They can be fitted with 3 axles but the greater un laden weight will reduce the payload.
All 26 and 35 trailers have 300mm deep 3mm thick solid steel sides and welded tread plate steel mudguards with load securing points. 18mm phenol coated non slip floor, full road lights and outline markers where required, heavy duty jockey wheel and an interchangeable number plate holder. A spare wheel and carrier is an optional extra on all this range in order to reduce the un laden weight and maximise the payload.

With the introduction of EU type approval it is often uneconomical for companies to manufacture their own trailer chassis for fixed equipment, generators, compressors, pumps and tanks etc. Bateson Trailers have, over the years, manufactured hundreds of special trailers individually designed to meet customers specific requirements. We have a vast experience and can advise on the viability of any particular project with full European type approval
With over 100 standard models, in the unlikely event that we do not have a standard product we can quote for most modifications. We will consider complete specials if there are sufficient quantities to cover the design and development costs.
